Morris & Co.
The Arc Centre, Islington
Welcomed into the Arc Centre family, Islington, we brokered a relationship that resulted in the gifting of over 4000 plants including 10 mature trees and the associated development of programmes covering community engagement, local food growing, skills development and job creation. The project had sustainability and environmental awareness at its heart.
What we did
As part of Ruth Willmott Associates, Sixty7.green brokered a relationship for the Arc Centre with Morris & Co. Some 4000 plants were successfully relocated to 5 newly established gardens within the Packington Estate precinct – Canalside Square, Packington Square, Rhieldon Terrace Garden, Union Square and the Arc Orchard.
The project was enhanced by Sixty7.green’s strategic planning capability and project management experience.
Sixty7.green shared its business development skills and found partnership opportunities for the Centre and its community programmes. It resulted in much needed cash and in-kind project sponsorship from Sixty7.greens’s partner organisation Remarkably.co – responsible for the Sixty7.Green brand and website.
Sixty7.green’s involvement led to the partnership with Ruth Willmott Associates, Morris & Co, and The Royal Horticultural Society.
“Collaborations between local businesses such as Sixty7.green and community interest companies like The Arc Centre unlock great opportunities for local communities”, said Damien Brown, General Manager of The Arc Centre. “The partnerships in support of The Arc Centre Gardening Project, has delivered a ground-breaking gardening initiative for the local community with multiple benefits. This project not only enhances Packington’s local green spaces, but it has helped build new skills locally, and created further opportunities for people to get together to support each other.
The project helped build community cohesion, engendered a sense of pride and brought people together to co-own and nurture spaces for everyone to enjoy. It also delivered biodiversity benefits and resulted in positive physical and mental health outcomes locally.
Sixty7.green is honoured to have been part of an ambitious grass-roots organisation dedicated to sustainability, community building and bringing out the best in local creativity.
